Growing up locally here in Chicago, and having WGN as a core local TV station, many ads were for local businesses, especially car dealerships. There was one ad tagline that you simply couldn’t forget. It was from Celozzi-Ettelson, whereby at the end of every commercial the two owners would say: “Where you always save more money!” (For you nostalgia buffs…here’s a 30 second link)
With regard to packaging, a primary goal for our customers is driving cost reduction. There are many paths to take towards achieving this goal. One of the most often overlooked methods is reducing the amount of invoices processed by each of our companies. We have had customers who want to procure supplies with a monthly order; we have some that buy annually (seasonal companies). Buying less often is a surefire way to save money. It requires less handling and processing of an invoice for all involved in the transaction (which, in some cases, may include manufacturing partners).
Freight reduction, full skid discounts, reduced handling time by warehouse workers, fewer truck appointments, paperwork reconciliation, etc. are all opportunities to benefit from time and operational savings associated with less frequent, larger orders. We once had a Fortune 500 company that said each transaction within their organization had a value of $125.00, or more, per purchase requisition and order processed through their company. Transactional handling does have its cost, and it isn’t always easy to spot.
At PackSmart, we give consideration to processes like this when we meet with prospects, and continue to revisit them with our customers as our relationship expands. The ultimate goal, yes, is to save more money, but following the PackSmart Proven Process is where the Real Savings can and will continue to occur. Let’s work together on flashing the cash!
